Maria R. Downey, OD joined Eye Consultants of Pennsylvania in April 2003. Prior to this, Dr. Downey worked extensively with pre- and post-operative patients, including LASIK, PRK, PTK, cataract, and corneal transplants. She also formed her own corporation and practiced family eye care.
Dr. Downey obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Binghamton University in 1995 and her Doctor of Optometry from the S.U.N.Y. College of Optometry, New York, NY in 1998. She completed clinical internships at the Wilmington VA Hospital in Wilmington, DE and OMNI Eye Specialists in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Downey completed a residency in ocular disease and co-management at OMNI Eye Specialists in Baltimore, MD in 1999.
Dr. Downey's scope of practice includes comprehensive family eye care, eye health examinations, difficult refractions, general and complex contact lens fittings including kerataconus and post-operative corneal transplant fittings, pre- and post-operative patient management, and co-management of refractive surgery patients.
